It sounds to me to be a permissions issue. I’ve come across this myself with my Linux Mint 14 (Cinnamon) install, which I believe is based on Ubuntu 12.10.

First thing to do is to check the permissions on the hardware device mounting your card. You’ll need to find the device name. To do this run the following command:

sudo fdisk -l

Your device will probably be something along the lines of /dev/sdb1, in my case the SD Reader was /dev/mmcblk0p1.

Next you need to get the permissions on this device:

sudo ls -l /dev/mmcblk0p1

Replace “/dev/mmcblk0p1” with your device location. The output will look something like this:

brw-rw---- 1 root disk 179, 1 Feb 3 21:58 /dev/mmcblk0p1

This tells us the device is owned by User ‘root’ and group ‘disk’ You need to be a member of group ‘disk’ to be able to write to the SD card. You can check which groups your a member of with

groups username

In my case I was not a member of the ‘disk’ group, I rectified this with

sudo usermod -G disk --append username

This adds the group ‘disk’ to your user’s groups, which should allow you to now read & write to the SD card

http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=600216

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTeytkxlDt8 (video)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LhH4eoqKY8 (video)

Y otra entrevista con un superviviente

En 1937 hubo otro superviviente

http://unofficialnetworks.com/2012/05/highest-cliff-jump-earth-220feet-golden-gate-bridge-1937

http://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/mythbusters/videos/hammer-jump-minimyth.htm

A high fall over water can be survived by throwing a hammer ahead of oneself and breaking the surface tension.

busted

Dropping a hammer in front of you may break the surface tension, but it will not save your life because water is still too viscous to move out of the way quickly.

164 ft (1935, Aurora Bridge in Seattle) and 186ft (1937, San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge)  Ray Woods

http://www.historylink.org/index.cfm?DisplayPage=output.cfm&file_id=10280

3,5 G a 20 ft/sec
6 G a 30 ft /sec
16 G a 50 ft/sec
43 G a 80 ft/sec

En plancha:
18,6 G a 20 ft/sec
40 G a 30 ft/sec
112 G a 50 ft/sec
300 G a 80 ft/sec

RAy Woods, quién saltó en su mid-thirties, 164 feet from the Aurora Bridge in Seattle en 1935, heridas en la espalda, 186 feet jump from San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge in 1937.

4 supervivientes 100 a 116 ft/sec
2 supervivientes a velocidad terminal.
87 ft/sec en lateral
88 ft/sec prone
93 ft/sec en supine
97 ft/sec head-first

http://www.greenharbor.com/fffolder/ffallers.html

Sobre la tensión superficial:

Surface tension of common liquids such as water is typically tens of milliNewtons per meter.. A milliNewton is about 0.0002 pounds of force. If a human being hits a lake at 120 MPH, the impact force will be measured in thousands of pounds. In the scheme of such an event, surface tension effects are vanishingly small, neglible.

Most of the drag on an object is form drag, and is proportional to the density of the fluid through which the object is moving. So if you’re falling at terminal velocity (~120 MPH) through the air, you’re experiencing about 175 pounds of drag force. Water is about 800 times as dense as air, so when you hit the water at that speed, you can expect to immediately experience about 140,000 pounds of drag force, and decelerate at about 800 g’s. For a given impact speed, the only way to decrease this force is to decrease the effective density of the fluid medium through which you’re falling. You can entrain air bubbles in the water, but it would take a LOT of air to reduce the density to the point where the impact forces aren’t fatal. Want a 20-g deceleration event (think “fighter plane ejection seat,” which still hurts)? OK, your fluid density needs to be 1/40th that of water. As they say in Japan, “That could be very difficult.”

Faced with a high-speed vertical impact on water, I’d guess the best approach would be to freefall in the classic skydiver position (on stomach with arms/legs out) to keep the speed as low as possible, and then right before impact transition to a feet-first orientation and point your toes. You’re probably still going to break some bones, but at least your skull won’t implode.

First and foremost, this is not Mark Karpeles. Fuck that bitch-titted motherfucker.

It's time that MTGOX got the bitcoin communities wrath instead of Bitcoin Community getting Goxed. This release would have been sooner, but in spirit of responsible disclosure and making sure all of ducks were in a row, it took a few days longer than would have liked to verify the data.

Above you will find download link and a mirror used without asking from Mark Karpeles very own blog.magicaltux.net.

Included in this download you will find relevant database dumps, csv exports, specialized tools, and some highlighted summaries compiled from data. Keeping in line with fucking Gox alone, no user database dumps have been included.

A conversation in Japanese with Karpeles and a Banker
Some Mt Gox Code

Hrumph: emma: i’m in usd so my side is the usd side but note that I fully recognise that favouring usd or a low value of btc is unfair to people who were simply holding btc
evilmushroom: so his mood has increased
Rizar: or they found pendrive
Rizar: XD
relatic3 joined the chat room.
Hrumph: emma: i just hope that they can come up with a resolution that’s optimally fair to everyone on average
emma: yeah
ppvkignx: additionally, it’s likely that Mtgox has debtors who are not unsecured and thus have priority, meaning unsecured debtors (depositors) will get well under 5% after fees are accounted for as well
linagee: I don’t get it. Does Mark just have all the coins in a brain wallet or what? How can you even prove that’s *not* the case?
reb0rn: fair would be full BTC in some reasonable time
Anthony1s_ joined the chat room.
ppvkignx: you can’t make lemonade with a rock
ppvkignx: you can’t conjure 850,000 btc out of thin air
Hrumph: robocoin: not for those buying zillions of btc at $100…those guys don’t deserve full market value
reb0rn: no but OVER time yes
ppvkignx: reb0rn, mtgox made 2 million profit in 2013. They owe 500million+ in bitcoin
MasterMaA: evilmushroom He didnt lode the coins?
MasterMaA: lose
evilmushroom: MasterMaA sorry I was joking. I have absolutely no idea.
Concurrent581072: “23:21:48 <MagicalTux> I’m providing details to the law enforcement, saying anything publicly could cause problems with the investigation” is the reason why he isn’t telling how the coins were lost, supposedly
MasterMaA: evilmushroom lol
reb0rn: ppvkignx no , they also earned 100K BTC!
reb0rn: they keep it in BTC because no tax, and more value
Rizar: ppvkignx so we will get ours btc in 250 yrs
Rizar:
evilmushroom: MasterMaA I didn’t even have coins in gox– but I have a friend that had some.. who is mega depressed. I just check this channel to see if there is any good news to tell him
ppvkignx: they made 100k btc over the entire operations of the exchange, right?
hadoopSucks: there just 0 chance that a 100 target price could be argued, that was only that low due to withdrawissues
reb0rn: hell know
MagicalKarp: evilmushroom: still waiting for update.
usaoscoin: !seen ne0futur

ppvkignx: additionally, mtgox would only make realbtc fees on future deposits, not existing deposits
ppvkignx: prospects look bleak.
reb0rn: its the same
reb0rn: if there is investor with $$ future could be fine
pasod: evilmushroom: it’s too soon to know what hill happen, there is a legal process in development so things go slower
reb0rn: but thets big IF
evilmushroom: yeah I figured
linagee: MagicalKarp: are you like a tux?
ppvkignx: if mtgox does not have the 500million debt thrown out nobody would invest
zoinky joined the chat room.
ppvkignx: the liability is just ridiculously huge compared to the entire bitcoin economy
reb0rn: its not
MasterMaA: There was someone here proposing an IPO, e.g. delivering the losses to wall street…lol
MagicalKarp: linagee: no I am not affiliated with da tux.
ppvkignx: this bankruptcy is the ipo, and all you goxbtc holders are shareholders
reb0rn: BTC in 2 year can be huge
reb0rn: its a chance
MagicalKarp: yeah people Gox is providing you with a service by keeping your coins from you.
reb0rn: also ANYONE who wants future for BTC should help
reb0rn: so i still have hope there will be investors with BIG $$$
ppvkignx: lol

SuSEno: reb0rn: better to file an IPO so EVERYONE can own MtGox
GrandHeirophant: lol
GrandHeirophant: isnt their rules
MasterMaA: Why would anyone invest 500 million in a toxic firm like MtGox?
GrandHeirophant: to file an IPO
reb0rn: 500M is nothing, just small ppl don`t understand it
reb0rn: small ppl, don`t get angry
ppvkignx: look up the minji saisei process, existing debtors are essentially shareholders

Hachima: exactly
reb0rn: you all know shit, you  all have no GOX BTC, but are here to spread fud
pasod: at least it’s not a liquidation
ppvkignx: US DOJ brokered the full tilt deal
reb0rn: maybe you are from bistamp or btc-e

MagicalKarp: Someone explain to me how Idiot gets all that stuff.
ppvkignx: check website for info in next few hours neko_jita
emma: It embarrasses me that I was pushing my offline friends and family so hard about bitcoins and then it turns out this Bitcoin Foundation is full of criminals and vile people.
Dr-G2: Vote for me for new Bitcoin Supreme Leader

greenut: i know why… mark is just a stupid geek boy. he made two mistakes that pros won’t ever make: he didn’t do homework to study countries finance laws… for example he did set up a company in the US but he forgot to sign paper stating that the company he owns that they doesn’t deal in or exchange money, and that it doesn’t send funds based on customer instructions which did lead to US seize 5 millions.
usaoscoin: shit, is that the database
